Today's the day. After nearly two years Rebel Accord is finally ready to be read.
It's taken a while to finish for no other reason than a lack of motivation. It's difficult to find said motivation when you have a full time job as well as various art projects; trying to carve out some writing time becomes very challenging. Nevertheless I was able to knuckle down and complete the novel. It was great fun writing these characters once more, and getting to know some of them better. If you've read Time: A Trilogy you'll know that some characters don't make it past book one (or book two) so it was great to get the chance to do them justice in this prequel.
Rebel Accord is the beginning of a new series, based in the same universe as the Time trilogy. The Strike Agent Chronicles will consist of novels that bridge the ten year gap between the fall of the Empire and the beginning of A New Republic. I haven't decided on how many novels I'll write, but from early plans it will be quite a few.
The best thing about writing this series is that each novel will have its own primary story arcs that will conclude by the end of each novel. Of course there will also be subplots and story threads that will weave through the series as a way to tie everything together and develop the characters and the Linari universe. But, on the whole, readers will be able to dip in and out of this series and read them out of sync without being completely confused.
I have begun preparations on the next novel in the series whilst also beginning work on the subplots that will foreshadow future events within the series. My aim is to build a universe not unlike a comic book one, with its own set of villains and its own unique history, this takes time so there is no scheduled release date for the next book.
As for Rebel Accord this serves as somewhat of a prologue to the series, setting the scene and re-introducing the characters to the page. Currently it's only available on Kindle with no plans for a print version. From publishing the Time trilogy I've learnt that I waste more money on print than I get back in sales, whereas publishing an eBook is way more cost effective. The demand for paperback books is sadly lacking when it comes to independent authors. Perhaps in the future I will release omnibus editions of The Strike Agent Chronicles comprising of a few stories, but for now this will be a strictly digital release.
Also, if you're apprehensive of beginning this prequel series (because you haven't read/finished the Time trilogy) don't worry, Rebel Accord is a stand alone novel and can be read without any previous knowledge*. However, as an independent author I would recommend reading the Time trilogy anyway because it's awesome.
If you do purchase Rebel Accord please remember to review it on Amazon after you've read it, and if you're on Goodreads you can also rate it there too. Us independent authors rely on reviews and word of mouth in order for our books to reach a wider audience so it would be much appreciated!
I hope you enjoy!!!
I also have to say a massive thank you to my editor Rebecca Reid. you did an amazing job, I'm so lucky to have you working on this book with me, I don't know what it would have ended up like without you!
*Chapter 11 features references to Time: A Trilogy that readers unfamiliar with the trilogy may not understand, but this in no way interferes with the overall enjoyment of Rebel Accord's narrative.
