Free Books!

It’s that time again. I’m offering all four of my novels for free on Amazon this week! You have until Saturday to download them onto your e-reader.

You can download them for free here.

Whilst we’re on the subject of books, yesterday I began writing again. I know in my end of year post I stated I wanted to have the first draft of my next novel completed by June, directly after that I didn’t write a single thing until now. I’m aware I’m behind schedule, but as I stated in an blog post earlier in the year the reason was because I had been given a great deal of inspiration for my art, so I of course had to make use of that.

But now that I have some downtime from my day job I thought there was no better time than to jump back into writing. At present I have only had time at the weekends to pursue my art so now that I’m off for two weeks that gives me the weekdays to focus on my writing (here’s hoping).

As for my art I have been creating quite a bit. I recently got a new camera, so that has allowed me to make more art featuring myself which has also helped challenge me and keep my inspiration flowing.

Here’s some of my recent artwork:

My next challenge is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now. I currently sell my art on Society6 but as a business move it doesn’t make much sense. The site takes the majority of the money and the artist is only given a small percentage, unless you were to charge astronomical prices for your prints (and no one will pay that much for them anyway) you don’t make money.

So I’ve been toying with the idea of setting up my own shop where I handle everything from printing (of course I’m not printing my art myself - I will outsource that to a professional printer) to shipping and I can therefore control the whole thing.

I’m still not so sure it would be worth my while though. To put it bluntly, in my opinion I’m not popular or well-known enough to actually sell a decent number of prints. I’ve been selling my prints on Society6 for a while now (and Redbubble before that) and I have yet to make a single sale. So having to put money into getting everything printed etc. would make no sense considering there’s no one out there willing to buy my work. Perhaps if I get some requests about prints I will consider it again.

Think I should set up my own store rather than using a third party site? Let me know on my Contact page.
